God created man and woman out of love and commanded them to imitate his love in their relations with each other. Man and woman were created for each other…Woman and man are equal in human dignity, and in marriage both are united in an unbreakable bond. Marriage is a Covenant
In the Catholic Church, great value is placed on marriage. It is the foundation of family life and thus, the foundation of society. This lifelong partnership between man and woman is established for their mutual salvation and for the procreation and education of children.
